President Cyril Ramaphosa will sign the bill into law at the Union Buildings on Monday afternoon.

The proposed NHI legislation is aimed at ensuring universal coverage for health services.

But political parties, organisations and medical groups opposed to it, saying this can't be achieved in its current form.

Business Unity SA's Khulekani Mathe says they're prepared to head to court.

"This version will hamper rather than promote access to quality health care for all citizens in our country.

"It is essential we get the NHI right through all means still at our disposal.

"Including appropriate legal intervention that the legislation is finally implemented is in the best interest of our country."

The Board of Healthcare Funders and the SA Medical Association have also indicated legal challenges.
