‘Drunk’ driver to appear in PMB court for killing baby, injuring mother

A Pietermaritzburg man will appear in court on Friday, where he will face charges of culpable homicide and negligent driving

A mother and her six-month-old baby were knocked down on Church Street in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday.
The child died while the mother was hurt.

'Police in Pietermaritzburg arrested a 21-year-old man for drunk and driving as well as reckless driving,” says provincial police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo.
“A mother and her baby were knocked by a vehicle. The mother was taken to hospital for medical attention. The suspect will appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court."
