SA ‘won’t compromise’ foreign policy - ANC
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The ANC has
dismissed the DA's call for a complete overhaul of the country's foreign policy
amid rising tensions with the United States.

The GNU member suggested discussions on a review be held at cabinet level.
The party said in a statement earlier this month that because they are now under one umbrella, the ANC can no longer make unilateral decisions without consulting its GNU partners.
The DA's request follows the expulsion of South Africa's ambassador to the US, Ebrahim Rasool, over remarks about the Trump administration.
The subject was discussed at an ANC National Executive Committee meeting over the weekend.
Deputy secretary general Nomvula Mokonyane said on Sunday that this is not an issue for the Government of National Unity.
"The GNU has never looked at the issue of amending the constitution, changing foreign policy but it had the six principles that we all agreed upon. Nothing about foreign policy emerged.
"In this instance, we do not actually think that it is correct of them to now want to open up issues that are not necessarily what is included in the Statement of Intent of the GNU."
International Relations Minister Ranold Lamola said South Africa will not compromise on its foreign policy.
"As an emerging economy, we need technologies we need various investment to help us grow the economy.
"So we will continue to cooperate in that regard and negotiate agreements and trade-related issues. We think that there is a space to engage in bilateral trade negotiations with the US."
