G20 leaders to discuss workplace gender equality in KZN

Gender equality in the workplace is being
brought into focus in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday

Global leaders, who are part of the G20 Employment Working Group, will meet for a roundtable discussion in Umhlanga after talks in Gerbeha last month.
The G20 Presidency has identified two challenges that need to be prioritised.
According to a Statistics South Africa Labour Force Survey, women continue to face higher unemployment rates and inequality, compared to men.

It found that women still earn less and have limited access to leadership roles. High-level discussions on closing the gap will be held between Labour and Employment Minister Makhosazane Meth, experts, and organisations in the sector.
Last year, South Africa was placed 18th out of 146 countries on the global gender gap index.
A World Economic Forum report said that at the current pace it could take more than 130 years to narrow it.
