Umgeni Water says it hopes to have the shaft pump that failed at the Durban Heights Water Treatment Works up and running again by next week.

Work has begun to reinstall the pump.
It was sent to Gauteng for refurbishment after it stopped working last month, restricting the inflow of raw water into the plant for treatment.
Water supply to homes and businesses in and around eThekwini were affected.
"The contractor has said that it is expected to take four days from Thursday for the work to be completed," says Umgeni Water's Shami Harichunder.
"After which, what it means that if all goes according to plan if there are no glitches come either on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning after which raw water can flow through it and we treat it and the right amount of water can be supplied to eThekwini Metro."
