Prison break matric dance entrance should be illegal
Updated | By Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
As the years go by, more and more matriculants are finding bold and creative ways to make unforgettable entrances at their matric dances.

Over the years, we've seen some truly unforgettable matric dance entrances from students across South Africa.
Each year, the bar seems to rise as matriculants put more effort into their outfits and how they arrive, turning their big night into a red carpet moment worthy of the Met Gala.
From arriving in a coffin to cruising in a Pick n Pay trolley, the creativity knows no bounds.
One standout entrance saw a KZN student keep it local by pulling up in a taxi – simple, but full of impact.
This time around, a student took things to a whole new level, arriving at his matric dance in a full security convoy.
But this wasn’t about imitating celebrity life; it was all about creating a dramatic, unforgettable scene.
The young man, Tavarin, shared a video on social media showing his entrance styled like a high-profile fugitive.
With armed security flanking him, he stepped out in character. His caption said, "Straight out of prison – Matric Dance 2025."

Social media users had mixed reactions. Some thought his efforts deserved a solid round of applause, while others said it was over the top.
"This entrance was indeed a crime!"
"Seriously... this is like really over the top…"
"Now I’ve seen everything."
"I am supporting you."
"100% the best."
While not everyone in the comment section enjoyed his creativity, Tavarin’s peers were impressed – some even bowing to him in admiration as he prepared to walk the red carpet.
What do you think? Is this an example of thinking outside the box, or a worrying sign that this generation associates prison with something to aspire to?
