Probe underway after crash kills woman in Durban North

Investigations are underway into what caused a crash that claimed a woman's life in the north of Durban.

First responders say a minibus taxi and bakkie collided last night at the intersection between Chris Hani Road and Queen Nandi Drive. 


ALS Paramedics Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says at least eighteen people were injured. 


"One person in the bakkie a female believed to be in her forties was found entrapped in the wreckage and on assessment Paramedics found that she had sustained fatal injuries.


There was nothing paramedics could do for her and she was declared deceased on the scene.

"The Ethekweni Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to cut her free from the wreckage."



"Three other casualties had sustained critical injuries and approximately eighteen others had sustained moderate injuries. 


"Once stabilized on the scene all of the Casualties were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required."
