KZN police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving after a Westville man was knocked down in a hit-and-run incident.

Ajith Inderjeet was walking home on Sunday morning after watching Comrades Marathon runners near the M13 bridge when he was run over.
Wynand Laatz from Mobi Claw Security says the incident took place near the intersection of Dawncliffe and Lancaster Road.

He says the 48-year-old husband and father is receiving treatment in the ICU at Westville Hospital with severe brain injuries.
"She's got a confirmed bleed on the brain that is being closely monitored by the specialist. They are hoping that with the medication and the treatment, they subside. However, if it doesn’t subside within a specific time, he will have to go into surgery.
Laatz has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
"The family is traumatised they are actually shocked that someone can hit another human being and just speed away and not render any aid or assistance to that person."
