Ramaphosa launches ‘smart’ ANC membership card
Updated | By Tamasha Khanyi
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says
technology alone cannot help to rebuild the party.

He launched a new smart membership card on the first day of the party's NEC meeting in Boksburg on Friday.
The new cards will help keep ANC members' details and statuses on an online system.
During a briefing on Friday, Ramaphosa said the aim is to improve member administration and create a more secure and efficient system.

He said that while it is one step toward empowering ANC members, more still needs to be done.
"As we launch this new membership card, it is essential that we do the political and organisational work to fully realise the value in the renewal of our movement," said Ramaphosa.
"Renewal is a process, and the ANC is becoming more and more effective, more and more of a capable organisation and more and more of a unified organisation as we move ahead."
